In 2005, Randy Meehan while working for Kuhl
and Company in Morton, Illinois, and Rozelyn Smith, Sr. Event
Marketing Representative for St. Jude Peoria, Illinois turned their
attention and energy to help Randy's home town of Quincy, Illinois
organize the first Quincy to Peoria Run. The Quincy Run became the
17th "Satellite" Run. In 2006, 36 runners with the help of local sponsors raise $28,500. These runners ran for local families like Justin Kemner of Quincy and Spencer Waters and Jacob Sorrill of Liberty who all were referred to St. Jude's by local doctors.
In 2007, 52 runners with the help of local sponsors raised a record $50,200. These runners ran in memory of Paige James of Quincy, Illinois. (November 30, 2004 - December 16, 2006) Please read Paige's story.
The 2008 Run is the 4th annual run for Quincy with a goal of 62 runners raising $62,000. The thousands of dollars raised for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a fulfillment of the late entertainer Danny Thomas promise: "Help me find my way in life, and I will build a shrine dedicated to caring for the hopeless, the helpless and the poor."
'The Man behind the Magic!'
Please salute these 2007 local St. Jude Runners and volunteers
