I decided to get involved with the Quincy to Peoria run when my dad, Randy, started the run two years ago. At first I started running for my friend who was a St. Jude patient and lost her battle.  Then I realized that I was not only running for my friend, but for all of the other patients who need our help.

Fundraising is the h\most important part of our run.  The best way to raise support is to send letters to everyone and anyone you know.  What’s great about the St. Jude Run, is that EVERY dollar raised goes directly to the hospital and to the kids.

I have been to the hospital in Memphis and it is life changing!! It puts meaning to what we are doing.  You are able to see what the fundraising goes to and who it helps.  It changed my life so much that I changed my major to Child Life so I can go work at the hospital.  If you get the opportunity to go see the hospital, take it!

My favorite part of the run is running into the Civic Center in Peoria.  Everyone is cheering for you and thanking you for what you have done. That is motivation enough to run next year! A way to survive the overnight trip is to catch a nap whenever you can.  It may be sitting on top of a cooler at 4 am.  But it is all worth it!
